I'm not a standard fan but the sm465 is a strong transmission the drawback is wide ratio spread between gears. This is because of the "granny low" being so low it really only leaves you three useable gears for street use.

That being said there's a big fan base for them in off road trail use.

I've seen them go from 100.00 up to 400.00. My personal opinion is if I was to sell any of the ones I have by itself I would ask 200.00 and hope someone wanted it that bad. I wouldn't take less than 150.00 though. Search eBay to get an idea what they are going for on there.

    I run a 465 in my truck,,I like a standard off road.
i gave 200 for mine with the bell housing.
i have seen them a little cheaper than that but have also seen the a lot more than that also.

are you gonna sell the whole set up or just tranny?

How do you tell the difference in the wide and closed ratio?

There is no wide and close ratio models in those trannys,
he was referring to the drawbacks of that tranny that a lot of people don't like, wich would be that the gear ratio between low and 1st is(or 1st-2nd) a big difference and that for street use the 1st gear is basically useless. Only 2-4th are really only needed.
they weigh right at 1million pounds to,,2nd draw back.
you need to get rid of that thing man!
