    Mystery noise

So this week I began to notice a high pitch sound coming from under my truck. The only way I can describe it is it sounds like a chirping sound like a cricket. The pitch becomes higher as I get faster, and will disappear at times if I let off of the gas for a second and get back on it. I'm wondering if it is a u-joint, but I'm not 100% sure. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I'm beginning to think it's a caliper going bad and causing a brake pads to squeal. I've checked the u joints and there wasn't any slack in them. It tried hard to move them up and down and side to side.

If it's driveshaft speed then I'd put u joints in it. Heard that one a million times, kinda goes screekscreekscreek as you accelerate. I'm a career auto mechanic btw, I've put in lots of ujoints due to that noise. The best thing to do is drop the driveshaft and flex them. If something is amiss you'll be able to feel a tight spot, or just an overly tight joint in general.

It was a u-joint. I changed it out a few weeks ago. BTW, don't go to O'Rilley's for u-joints on a 2002 4x4 Silverado. None of the ones they stock are the correct ones. I got all four that they offered and had to get my money back after none of them worked. Ended up going to Dew Drop and got the right one the first time.
