i wonder if i can get much lift out of some new front and rear shackles on my 77, i can make them at work easy... plenty of steel laying around

Yes you could.......be careful how much on the front as it will cause severe handling problems on the front if you change it without shims to get the caster correct or you could have what I refer to as road grader syndrome and that my friend is no fun to drive.

Still working on the spring packs to see what I'm gonna need. Right now I got a set of main leafs from an s-10, set of main leafs from a dodge 3/4 ton. Trying different combinations with the chevy leafs to get the correct offset to get the wheelbase where I want it. If it works out right I should only need a maximum of a 4 to 5 inch block.

X2 on the longer shackles. My cj has the "road grader" syndrome right now. Drives ok to about 45 mph, then the rollercoaster ride begins. Got some shims ordered to get the caster corrected.
